Metta Medical Centre is open on Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, on Level 1 inside Karrinyup Shopping Centre (Shop 1280, 200 Karrinyup Road, Karrinyup WA 6018). Both GPs and our nursing team work on Saturdays, so a Saturday appointment is not limited to a standard consultation. Iron infusions, wound care, immunisations, travel vaccinations, spirometry, ear syringing, health assessments, minor procedures and women’s health procedures can all be booked on a Saturday. All appointments on a Saturday are privately billed. Call 08 6184 9885 or book online.

A Saturday clinic with nursing support, not just a GP on duty

Many practices that open on a Saturday run a doctor only service, which means anything needing a nurse gets pushed back to a weekday. Metta Medical rosters nursing staff alongside the GPs on Saturdays. That is the difference that lets us run infusions, dressings, vaccinations, lung function testing and procedure lists on a weekend, instead of asking you to take time off work during the week.

If you work weekdays, care for children, or simply cannot get to a clinic between 9 and 5, this is the appointment slot to use.

What you can book on a Saturday

Please note: all appointments on a Saturday are privately billed. There is no bulk billing on a Saturday, including for children and concession card holders. Your Medicare rebate is claimed electronically at reception, so you only pay the gap on the day.

The services below can be booked into a Saturday appointment. Availability depends on which doctor and nurse are rostered on a given Saturday, so please confirm when you book online or call reception.

Nurse supported treatments and procedures

  • Iron infusion, for patients whose iron deficiency has been confirmed and who their GP has assessed as suitable. See our iron infusion page for how the appointment works.
  • Wound care and dressings, including post operative wounds and suture removal
  • Minor procedures and skin lesion excisions and biopsies
  • Ear syringing for ear wax removal
  • Spirometry, lung function testing used in asthma and COPD assessment

Women’s health

Contraceptive procedures are performed by specific doctors at Metta Medical, so please book the initial consultation directly with the doctor who will perform the procedure rather than with another GP. Details are on our IUD and contraceptive implant page.

Saturday hours, fees and billing

Saturday clinic hours are 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. All appointments on a Saturday are privately billed. There is no bulk billing on a Saturday for anyone, including children and concession card holders who are bulk billed on weekdays. Appointments from 1:00 PM also attract the after hours fee schedule. Your Medicare rebate is claimed electronically at reception, so you only pay the gap on the day.

  • After hours short consultation: $95.00, rebate $33.80
  • After hours standard consultation: $135.00, rebate $57.15
  • After hours long consultation: $175.00, rebate $98.00

Several doctors set their own Saturday fees, and procedures such as excisions have a separate gap. The full breakdown by doctor is on the Fees and Billing page, and reception will confirm the cost of your appointment before you book.
