You can book a GP at Metta Medical Centre in three ways: online via HotDoc, by phone, or by walking in. Online booking is fastest — most appointments are confirmed instantly. This guide walks through each option, plus telehealth, new-patient steps, and what to do if you can’t see an appointment time you need.

Option 1 — HotDoc online booking (recommended)

HotDoc is our online booking platform. It runs 24/7, so you can book at 11pm Sunday for an 8am Monday appointment without phoning reception.

Steps:

  1. Open the HotDoc page for Metta Medical Centre (link on our home page or search “Metta Medical Karrinyup” on hotdoc.com.au).
  2. Choose your doctor. If you don’t have a regular GP, choose any doctor with availability — your records stay with the practice, not the individual GP.
  3. Choose appointment type: Standard, Long, Telehealth, or Procedure (only if your GP has asked you to book one).
  4. Pick a time and confirm.
  5. You’ll receive a confirmation SMS and email immediately, with a reminder 24 hours before.

If you’re a new patient, HotDoc will ask for your details, Medicare number and any concession card information so reception can have your file ready when you arrive.

Option 2 — Phone reception

Call 08 6184 9885 during opening hours. Reception staff can:

  • Book a same-day appointment if there is availability
  • Find the next appointment with a specific doctor
  • Help if HotDoc is showing no availability but a slot has just opened
  • Manage repeat-script and care-plan bookings (these aren’t always self-bookable)

Option 3 — Walk in

We are inside Karrinyup Shopping Centre, Level 1, Wellness Precinct, near the medical centre carpark and Karrinyup Shopping Centre lifts. Booked appointments take priority, but reception will work to fit walk-ins in where possible — usually mid-morning or mid-afternoon.

Booking a telehealth appointment

If you don’t need to be physically examined (e.g. mental health follow-up, prescription review, results discussion, simple cold or flu), telehealth is often quicker.

  • Telehealth slots show on HotDoc with a video icon.
  • Your GP will phone you (or send a video link) at your appointment time.
  • A Medicare rebate is available if you have seen any Metta GP face-to-face within the last 12 months.

Telehealth fees: $65 short / $115 standard.

I’m a new patient — what do I do?

  1. Book a Standard or Long consultation through HotDoc or reception.
  2. Bring your Medicare card, photo ID, and any concession or pension cards.
  3. If you can, bring a printout of your current medications and any specialist letters from the last 12 months.
  4. Arrive 10 minutes early so reception can complete your new-patient registration.

New patients are welcome with all of our GPs. For Dr Lucinda Townsley, new patients must call reception to book — her diary isn’t open for new-patient online booking.

I can’t see the appointment I need — what now?

If HotDoc is fully booked or you need an urgent slot:

  • Phone reception on 08 6184 9885 — they often have appointments not listed online.
  • Try a different GP in the same practice — your file stays with us regardless of who you see.
  • Out of hours — call healthdirect on 1800 022 222 for free 24/7 nurse advice, or use the National Home Doctor Service.
